New innovative marine 170 EXT build

Surprised you did the sand before placing the rocks
I like to do this as sand fills uneven crevices. I have done all 3 of my tanks this way. you just need to make sure rock is pressed down making contact with bottom glass so you don’t have an avalanche when you least expect it.
I've always done it this way before my latest tank and had I not had a custom long overhanging "gravity defying" structure I would have done sand then rock and push them down as well.

I've also pushed PVC after putting down sand to give the rocks support as well.

I have always put the 1/2by1/2 honey comb plastic where I want my rocks to touch the bottom. Then put the sand in so that there is no way the rocks can reach the glass. No matter what the tank diggers do.

Looking great. Nice work. Clean set up. So does your UV empty into the return chamber or right before it?

just before it in the fuge section

here is my hinged light rack for easy top access. Click the link as it is a video.

Gonna paint this canopy today. I was able to have the paint store match my APS white stand color exactly.

So I had some more time tonight. iI was time to build my new reactor & UV manifold. This is being fed from a Jeabo MDP 10000. probably a little big but it’s what I had previously used :) This was an easy one and it is now done and ready to be installed into the sump as well as the UV sterilizer after water test is completed.

How do you feel about your mounting position? I hear we are suppose to mount vertical or output facing up to eliminate air inside uv chamber. But I have no damn space to do either lol

So, here’s my thought, mine pulls from skimmer section and dumps into just before the return all within the sump. This being said it’s pulling up and going through and pushing outlet down creating suction so no way to trap air in this installation instance. I ran my last tank with UV installed this way for 6 years turning it on and off many times and never had an air dam issue. Might be different if pumping it directly back to the tank due to the required head pressure as well as back pressure when turned off.

Finally made some progress today. Got all GHL Mitras mounted onto the light frame. Programmed them all up. Moved 50% of my rock into the display and installed canopy on the tank. Phew. Busy few days it’s been.
