So are you saying you used a couple of 6' cables instead of the isolator? The isolator is an opto isolater so basically it removes all conductive connections between the AC Jr and PC. The weird thing is it seems like an issue on the transmit and receive pins because I made a cable that isolated that pin from the chassis ground and it still had the issue, then I cut the transmit and receive ground pin (so now it had no ground at all) and it now (obviously) wouldn't communicate to the PC, but it also still dropped the pH level on the AC Jr. It is almost like the transmit and receive is drawing too much power away from the AC Jr when connected to a PC.Steve,
FYI. I forgot to mention that, yes it does throw the readings off quick.. If you end up having to do what I did, meaning tie a couple of 6ft serial cables together, check before you buy the isolater. I had to wrap the connections in electrical tape to get it stable.
