Raising PH w/o Raising ALK

My Alk's already at about 11--but my PH is dropping below 8.0... how do you guys raise your PH without raising ALK to unsafe levels? I've been battling Dino's, rather unsucessfully, and I'm wondering if the Dino's are bringing down my PH by trapping oxygen.

alk is a bit high,,,, my ph is 7.8 and I am wondering how to raise it also. you might also check to see your calibration of your ph meter is accurate......

Having difficulties with ph being lower in the fall & winter are normal... When the house gets sealed up, with windows shut, there is an excess of co2 that builds up inside the home... You need outside air to purge the co2 that is trapped inside the house... Some people vent the intakes from their skimmers outside to draw in fresh air...That does bump it up a tad.... or you could fill your house with vegitation!!! :o

thanks to both, I do like to think I open my windows in my basement, I was wondering if the NP pellets lowered the PH and if they minor vinegar dosing lowered it, I always mix the vinegar in with kalk before dosing

also in my case I calibrated the PH meter right before it

Thanks also--I did just calibrate both, so I believe the readings are accurate--though I'll run them again just to be sure. I'm using the temperature correction setting if that makes a difference. I'm going to open the basement windows also to see if that helps. The dinos are driving me crazy, can't help to think they're somehow involved.
