Re-plumbing thoughts

So I'm working designing/re-plumbing the new set up. A friend convinced me not to drill for the return lines. One of the outputs will be close to the top to break siphon if power goes out. There will be one return pipe in each back corner of the tank.

I'm wanting to switch to this design due to having fish that jump and needing a tight fitting lid. The piping going right into the corner helps to prevent that.

There will be threaded unions to easily disconnect from the drain section of the line

White pvc is how it was previously plumbed. Blue pvc is what I'm thinking.

Any thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Personally, I like drilling but that's me. If it's a display tank, I would drill because it looks clean but if its a frag tank or hospital tank, I would do it the way you are.
