Sally lightfoot: in or out?

Got me thinking my toddler sons would probably like a couple of sally lightfoots (lightfeet?) crabs in my 125. Would be entertaining for them.
I had a sally crab way back ten years ago.
Then they fell out of fashion, people said they get predatory.

I do remember the crab being a pain and stealing food away from more docile fish.

What's the recent thinking: a good addition to a reef tank, or skip it?

are you keeping softies and LPS, or going hard core? The last one I had got pretty destructive while picking at my softies. I saw the SOB tearing up some candy canes.

They were great algae eaters though.....

Probably keeping a garden tank: some softies, some LPS, some SPS.

Definitely planning on xenia, a BTA, and maybe some of the SPS I parsed out to the Metrowest gang before my crash.

I have kept them for years with no ill affect on softies and LPS.

Anyone ever see them mess with snails, hermits, or other janitors?

I have a couple in the 210. I've never seen them bother anything, which is a good thing, they've reached a healthy size. Interesting to watch.

pretty model citizens for me as well, like all crabs they can be opportunistic feeders.. but like i said i've never had any issues with sally light foots, or emeralds for that matter.

I've had this one a few years, the body is larger than a frag disc, never had any problems, I love her.
