Tank too hot?

my picotope is playing with 80deg today... fans cause havoc w/ my evap, so i'm trying lots of things, waiting for my float switch from chicago sensors to show up for my ATO (ill post abuild thread!)

someone had mentioned swapping to a reverse light cycle, has anyone had good success trying two 6 hour lightperiods with a nice break midday?

my air temp therm says 86 in the house right now.. WTB central air!

Regards,
Lee

Ouch - that's high for an in house temp. We're running 76 in the room - ac unit on and temp in tank at 82 - swings from 79-82 so far and today being the hottest.

I'm going to go with the open the flap on the biocube - shut the lights off for the next 3-4 hot days and then see what happens. I don't want to cook the tank.

I wish we would have gotten a larger AC unit - as I think 10,000 BTU is too small for our living room. Investigating getting a larger unit now.

Okay - quick update - just opening the top dropped the temp 2 degrees - that's not the entire top on the Biocube - just popping open the flap.

nice.

yea, i have a bet going with the roommate.. first one to turn on the AC pays the electric for the month..

he's got servers,ive got fishtanks..

im watching the water temp pretty closely, highest i've gotten is 82 a couple weeks ago when i left the tops on, 79-80 otherwise.

lee

that is one HARSH bet.

yea, we dreamed it up in march... luckily it has been such a soggy summer, we didnt even consider losing during june and most of july...we'll see what aug brings..
