Time to vote guys!

Do you want to have full elections on Oct. 2nd, or hold off until December?

Explaination:

The BRS bylaws perscribe that if there are empty officer positions they have to be filled at the next club meeting. That meeting is now set for Oct. 2nd, at the Wakefield library. There are currently 3 officer positions available. Secretary, Vice-president, and Treasurer.

The BRS bylaws further perscribe that elections for all officers and at-large board of directors positions be voted upon in December of each years.

Rather than have the three officer positions be filled and be in office for only 2 months there might be some advantage to pushing the complete elections forward to Oct. 2nd (this was a suggestion made at the BOD meeting last night [Tuesday, 14Sep04]). This is a club decision, so we are putting it to you the club members to make the decision.

Moe, Sticky please.

i know i cant make it on the 2nd,i would like to cast a vote but there's no way i could be there....

Some food for thought .. .
I vote to hold and election for interim BOD seats and Officers now and the full elections in December. We, as a club, have just gone through a very trying ordeal. We need to heal for a few months. There may be some people who would like to be part of our governing body, but are intimidated by the horrific diatribes going on.

Just my 2 cents. I am still very optomistic about the future of BRS and I would like to see us become whole again.

I myself think we need stability back in the club. If we do not I belive we will be the laughing stock of reef club (if we are not all ready). I hope with the new BODs inplace we will turn this club around.

richard i do agree we need stability,i am only speaking on behalf of myself because i would like to vote on who is running this club and if it was on oct 2nd i cant vote..

if it would be better for the club to jump right in, go for it.but i think the BOD should fill the empty seats and have a real vote when we are supposed to...

i think i read that in the bylaws the pres or BOD would fill the spots if anyone steps down....i will reread and correct myself if need be...

yup i was wrong..who is on the nomination committe or do we have one...

I'm very new to this club, but I am voting for elections in Dec. I agree with Paula that a few months to lay low and let things settle would be best.

Rushing to hold elections in 2 weeks will only add to the confusion. Many of the newer folks don't even know the individuals who may be running for those spots.
And the experienced club folks who may/should be running for those spots need time for the mess to settle before deciding whether to take the plunge.

December.

If the vote is close we will probably just wait. Still the three positions will have to be filled on the 2nd.

Precisely my feelings as well.

You might be right about the library size, but I'm not so sure. Although folks here on the boards are certainly interested/entertained by all this stuff, there are not as many of you as you might think. I don't know if we will really have a turn out much over 75 people.

Does anyone have another venue capible of handling 75-150 people that is available on Oct 2nd and costs us <$100 or so?

I say wait for Dec, as long as it is early in the month. Christmas parties take up a lot of people's time.
Downside is if we need to rent a space many may be unavailable or cost a lot more $$

i already tried to get my fathers bar(what better place for us to get together) but it is to small....

I'm also a new member and don't really have knoweledge about many of the issues at hand besides what's being posted on the boards, but agree that waiting until December would be good, to let the dust setlle and have people vote with a clearer perspective.

Wait until December...

For the same reasons I did not IMMEDATELY deal with my 6 year old when he and his friend opened my RO/DI valve and killed my tank, effectively making it a brackish reef. I needed to sit, and compose myself and make it a learning experience (for both of us).

BRS is a great "thing" that deserves to have this kind of action done right.
