Yeah I've got space on all sides to place foam insulation. I'll probably do that. Do you guys cover the top of your basement sumps in the winter as well?

Thanks Linda, I was wondering about how much heater I was going to need. I've got a 200w heater in the display, and a 250w in the basement sump. Do you have a guess for whether that's enough? I really have a hard time guessing.

Total volume's now about 120g. Basement stays about 45-50 in the wintertime.

My total volume is about 140 t0 150g and my basement is the same 45-50+/- in winter. I have no insulation or top on my sump and two 200w heaters. In the winter my tank stayed at a steady 79 deg.

well as most of you know my tank didn't do too good yesturday with the heat and it didn't help the air conditioner wasn't on yet.... catastrophy thread explains it all!

Sorry, Now that I think about it the heaters are 250w Won Brothers not 200w but you should be OK
