I purchased a pair of Biota Mandarins. These two mandarins male and female are an inch or smaller. The female barely makes three quarters of an inch. They can be lost in the rocks of my display rather quickly. I was a little scared about adding them to my tank because I was worried about tank mates swallowing them whole. But mandarins taste pretty bad to other fish from what I read. But anyway after reading up and doing some research I was ready to introduce them to my reef tank. I’ve been culturing copepods and phyto for some time and felt that my reef tank was ready. The Mandarins have made it through the first week in my display and my other fish pay no attention to them. They’re pretty fun to watch as they’re so small but actively hunting for copepods all the time. They’re always swimming close to each other. These guys being captive bread also eat pellets and cyclops and other fresh foods. I basically feed them like I target feed some of my corals. Anyways just wanted to share. I’m sure I’ll be sharing some more of these two soon.
