conch shell decorations

i have a few conch shells that i have collected from my trips to the caribbean would these be fine to put into my tank? they werent bought from the tourist stands i picked these up from the docks where the fishers just leave them when they take out the conchs. so i know they havent been bleached with chemicals or anything like that.

I've had a couple in one of my tanks for a long time (my eels like them as homes). The only problem I've had is they can become quite a trap for nasty detritus.

I would soak them in a weak bleach solution and then rinse, just to make sure. Bleach breaks down quickly. It's safe to use to clean things you are going to put in your tank. The shells are likely to trap detritus, though. At least, mine did.

They should be no problem. I have use many...long term they become live rock.

Yeah. Just remember they will become covered over with coralline algae after a while.
