wow i find that to be very interesting. i suppose if your trying to acheive a dusk dawn effect with your halides it would work great. i always thought that metal halide needed to warm up for a few minutes to heat the metal salts in them to plasma. i never knew you could dim metal halides. i like watching my light turn on it takes about 5 mins for my aqualine buschke 250 watt bulbs to warm up. they go thru funky color changes as the metal salts begin to liquify into plasmas. if the dimmer is reputable then go for it. i prefer actinic pcs for the dusk dawn thing. and moon light leds for night.
