Fuge area of the sump COVERED in Hair Algae

RayD

The Chicago Experience!
So the small fuge area of my sump is totally covered in Hair Algae. I don't really care and HA doesn't really bother me if it's not in the display but it's so bad that it completely covers the sponge on my MAG12 return and affects water flow back to the tank.

It's so cumbersome to clean off that I just replace the sponges every couple of months.

So how to get rid of or cut down the HA. Pull it all out and go dark in the fuge for a few days? Lighting runs alternate from the display lighting.

Fuge is loaded with LR and a ball of Cheato. Nothing else.

Is it possible that your fuge is due for a bulb change, or maybe you should try a different temp bulb.

Keep the hair algae there and put in a dozen turbo snails.
