got a great deal on a 210 aga reef ready

so jumped into it with both feet purchased a 210 aga reef ready
now i need to make the basement into a living area.
my question is what size sump should I use so if there is a power failure
I dont cause a flood.

It would depend on the overall setup. If the tank is "reef ready" with overflow boxes then only a small amount of water will empty out during a power failure (providing that you do not have your return lines too low in the tank, but there are even ways around this.)
As for simple recommendations, I would go with the biggest sump that you can fit and afford. The more volume = more stability.

Here's a calculator for you. Put in the tank length, width, and height of water above overflow (1" is probably a good guess).

It's not really very much. You want a big sump to add stability, and to give you room for equipment, so put as large a sump as you can fit. The extra 5 or 10 gallons you'll need when the tank shuts down will just mean that you keep the height of the water below the top of the sump normally.
 
i have a 210 i switched out a 30gal cpr sump and added a 75g tank that was drilled and baffles put in , in the middle is a sand bed. works alot better
