Help with AC Jr and connecting to PC

does anyone have any experience with this? no matter what i do in Aquanotes when i go to tank status it says "Aquacontroller Not Responding". when i change it to the correct port it gives me a Run-Time error 440 automation error and Run-time Error 8020 error reading comm device....when i close the error boxes it automatically closes aquanotes. any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA
