Is there really a need for a skimmer in a nano?

To follow up to this thread I wanted to report my 8 gallon at work with 2 clowns is completely algae free after a year and a half and my 29hqi cube (not as established), but still algae free. I've come to the conclusion that no matter how small the Nano if you keep the bio load low and keep up on water changes there is no need.

I can almost promise if I added one more fish to my established 8 gallon work tank I would have algae issues.

I second this. My 5g, 10g, 16g, and 29g are all skimmerless and algae free aside from a little bubble algae in the 10g & 16g from introducing two frags I failed to inspect before introduction.
