lighting downgrade

Cyber P
I just ordered an electronic vho ballast to use for my new lighting setup.

Currently I have a dual SE 175w 10k halide setup= 350

The plan is to go to dual 110w vho=220w

I just have some softies in the tank. Alot of xenia, gsp, couple leathers, green tree coral.

The halides are about 1.5 years old and I am starting to get alot of red and green hair algae. Most likely due to color shift. (what eats the red stuff anyway? kinda fluffy balls of it)

Any thoughts on how much shock this downgrade in wattage will have to my setup?? The halides are shining through not so clean plastic and the vho will have no plastic, plus the vho will be new bulbs so im hoping the difference isnt huge.

Jeff, I don't think that's much of a shock, and I think it' planty of light for your inhabitants. Full speed ahead.

Sounds like you might have the stuff people are calling "red hair algae" or "cotton candy". Word on the street is that turbos eat it like . . . well, cotton candy.
