Lighting for 110 Gal X High

Hi,
I am looking into building a lighting system for my future tank setup. Right now I have a 30 gal FOWLR. At first I am going to set up the 110 X the same way. But I might want to change to a reef. Can I set the lighting up for a reef right off the bat and if so what wattage do I need?

The answer is yes. You can certainly put strong lighting over a FO tank. I think you'd probably want to turn off part of that lighting if you have no corals to save electricity, and reduce algae growth.

The type of light you should get for a future reef will depend on what sorts of corals you think you might like to keep in the future. Do you have an idea of that?
