New tank

hello everyone!
i have a 46 gallon bow front tank and i was thinking of turning it into a saltwater tank. I have a marineland filter that pumps a 55 gallon. what other equipment do you think i need to start a saltwater tank. This will be my first salt water tank. if anyone can help me out that would be great thanks

Skimmer and a refractor for testing salinity.
At least an API saltwater test kit set.

so you think my hang on filter will be fine? so i will need substrate for the bottom and some live rock and skimmer? i have a light should i get a new bulb for the salt water?

That would be great. That's how I started up 21 years ago. As you get experience you can add to the tank.
