sea urchins and trachys

is it generally ok to house a tuxedo urchin with some trachys (open brain coral) in the same tank or should I be worried the urchin will damage the brains tissue?

It's tough to say. Most urchins will turn to coral at some point. I've had long spine urchins that were fine for years only to wake up and discover it ate right up the side of a large acro one morning. I would keep a close eye on it especially if there is no algae for it to eat.

I have coraline which I have heard they eat...is there anything else I can feed to supplement or should I just keep watching him?

I have had 2 tuxedo urchins in my tank for 3 years and they have never touched anything but the coraline. I can usually see where they were the night before by the clean white "trail" on my purple rocks.
