"Submersible" heater

Hi,

I just got a Hagen Elite Submersible heater. I assumed I could put it entirely underwater within the tank. However, the instructions have an "X" over the drawing showing the heater in the bottom of the tank. They also write "if the appliance falls into the water, DON'T reach for it!" These things would make me think dunking it would put me at risk of being electrocuted, which is pretty low on my priority list. I now have it behind the false back in my 24 gallon nano cube with the control portion out of the water, but I'm sure it will eventually get wet. My question is, if it goes under, am I likely to do the same?

Thanks for any advice.....................

biggy are you serious lol fully Submersible would normally mean you can dunk the whole thing under water you should not have any problems

Some heaters cannot be fully submersed which is how it sounds for this model.
I would recommend taking it back if you can and picking out a fully submersible version.
