Thanks for Teaching Me the Ways! Onward to Colorado!

I just wanted to thank everyone in the club for teaching me so much about the hobby. I started reef keeping 7 years ago after transitioning my green spotted puffer to salt water. I made a lot of mistakes but was very happy to have this community to support me. The meetings were a great place to see everyone together and the yearly auction was a highlight.

I really got to know the community through the marketplace when buying nearly entirely used equipment for my first and second tanks. As a grad student this made starting the hobby possible. The one-on-one meetups with people and individual tours while piecing together my system presented learning opportunities that you just don't get from videos or blogs. When you meet another reefer, their passion shines through. No matter a person's walk of life, when two people share an interest in reef keeping conversations can last for hours like that of old friends.

I also want to shout out to Geoff (Boston Corals) and Jessie, who volunteered to help move my tank. A large scale tank transfer like I did (from a high rise in Cambridge) is a bigger feat than anyone can imagine. And even with all the pre-planning in the world it was a feat. It really was a shining example about how much we care about this hobby and each other. I think we would achieve world peace and understanding if everyone was a reef keeper (except for the occasional forum flame war haha...we do hold a lot of strong opinions)

I am moving to Colorado for a bit of adventure. I will be leaving everything behind except my shark Napoleon. (He already has a stock tank waiting for him at my new place in Colorado). I have backup homes for the rock, coral, fish and tank but if you want any of it and can pick it up this week, send me a PM with an offer. Speed of pickup is prioritized over price, as it will make the final move of what remains easier.

Once again, thanks for being a top notch club and giving community. Maybe I'll see some of you again the next time there is a reef conference in Denver.

Happy Reefing!
