big but not so big problem

so i had a friend of mine over helping me out with my tank setup/ watching the pats. Well when i went out for pizza my friend took the liberty of "helping" me rinse my rock and put it in the tank. Problem being the rock was in the middle of a bleach soak and it has only been soaking since the 14th. Also he said he only hosed the rocks off and then put them in. meaning they could have bleach on them still. am i hopelessly lost or is this an ok thing, being midful of the fact that my tank has not even started to cycle yet.

Unfortunately I am too new to saltwater to really help. The best advise I can give you, make him get the pizza from now on...

That said, just going by stuff I have read I think the rock would need to soak for much longer to have time to break down the stuff that may be dead inside any holes in the rock. The bleach in the tank issue I can't help too much but I am guessing it depends on how diluted it was. Best of luck.

Throw some Prime or Amquel in there to take care of the bleach. I bleach my filter socks all the time, and then I just rinse them in water that has Prime in it to be safe. Since the tank is not cycled yet, if the rock is not too dirty, you can just leave the rock in there and let it all cycle together. However, if the rock is covered with dead algae you might want to put it back in the bucket so it's easier to make water changes. Either way, it's the same length of time for the rock to cycle, it all depends on where you want to make the most water changes.
