Neal's SPS & ZOA/PALY SYSTEM Coral & Livestock pics thread...

a video i took earlier today of my whole display... removed a few things to allow to go from 8 rows to 7, and have a little more space... i really like it like this... in this video, you will se my two tangs getting a little grouchy with each other... this happens after feeding time sometimes, but subsides very quicky usually... again, dont do what i do lol...

realized i havent shared any pics of my red people eaters... i jus took this pic :)

your rpe looks awsome.the red on mine is not as bright as yours.hopfully mine will color up like yours.when i bought mine,it was some what shaded from the light but i have it out under new light bulbs so hopefully the color come back as bright as yours.

I love your tangs. I was just cringing every time they made a corner. It looked like two kids running around the house. I was just waiting for one of them to run into something and send it crashing down!

I cant find where you listed it, but what kind of tiles are these?

a poor quality pic of my new tyree red watermelon chalice... it has 2 eyes... it looks better in person, but isnt all that colorful at this point... but it did jus undergo fragging last week and shipping not too long later... first 72 hours have been good to it thankfully... i really look forward to this one 6 months down the road... already considering my next chalice if this one does well, perhaps something really nice if i have the money and im confidant enough to take the gamble... but this is my second, my first was/is a miami hurricane chalice which has done incredible for me... so im excited about this tyree peice...

this mounting spot is only temporary until in grows down the side of the plug...

thank you...

i actually have removed one of the tangs despite jus recently posting the video above... but he was given to a friend with a 220g who i know will take good care of him... so he is adopting him... so i only have one now... who seems to do much better alone... though i have to say, they didnt do necessarily bad together, but there was a constant uncomfort there... so i dont recommend it, as it seems like even if jus a little at times, it was a constant source of stress for the other...

anyhow, thats good news for all, but the tiles are from home depot... they are 4" x 4" tumbled natural stone... and i believe its called chairo, but that might be the style... anyhow, they look very natural imo, and "color up" nicely... they establish most everything that live rock does, and they make a wonderful place for pods to populate... i have an incredible amount for the style setup i have...

i really like the these larger, more natural tiles... i have made more of columns of sorts, rather than the bases they were basically used for before... i would like to get a 120g already and make them higher, and more pronounced and with more hiding spots for critters like the ones in the back row have... but for now, i think the look is great, but the structures arent what i envision them to be yet...

they work great though, and soon i hope to remove all live rock from my system and jus use these tiles as my bio-source... should be ineresting... but i think with more natural rock tile, and it will work well... and i wont have to use any more live rock...

it has taken them about 7 months to get to this point, i started with 5 or so polyps, and they looked like hell for a while, im very happy with the RPE's as they have reached their potential finally... same with my sunndy D's, sort of... but they still havent quite come around yet, and dont look great, but they have gone from 1 polyp to about 20... weird... i jus dont get it... but i think i finally got there placement with light and flow a little more correct... so we will see what happens with the sunny D's... lol...

and i woke up yesterday to find my pearlberry all but receded completely... tried to save about 4 tips, but they were all smoked this morning... SoB... lost my hawkins last week... and my green milli before that (partly my fault on that one)... as well as my purple monster recently...

got my dosing pumps, they should be up and running and doing 6 even doses per day each, within the next couple days... im gonna stop doing a couple things for the time being like dosing the lugol's, which i only did 2 drops per day for 90g's of water... i need to figure this out...

i also need to get those frags out and gone from my system too...

some changes to be made the next week or so... hoping for the best...

and i will also have a calcium reactor in the near future, as im sure that will help a ton... i havent used one, hadnt wanted to, and it was suggested here a few times... but it will be for the best, and i also wana try new salt soon too... jus a little more cash ;)

started this video hoping to show more of my fish and critters, then i jus kinda showed whatever...

purple people eaters :)

You sure that's PPE? Looks kinda different from mine.

Why did your pearlberry and purple monster rtn? That must hurt...I know because I lost my pearlberry and purple monster colonies awhile back due to light shock when I switched over from MH to T5.

i am positive... they look exactly like these, and the rest of the examples, here at coral pedia... sometimes my pics are very poor in showing real color and whatnot... mine have a very nice purple body with green skirts and mouths... they are fat polyps and grow very slow...

im very curious to see what your look like...

and i lost some corals cuz i lost the stability on my alk and started chasing its levels... my alk got too high cuz i wasnt paying close enough attention as i should have been... got up to about 11... far too high for my system... usually sits at 8 the highest...

Oh I'm just wondering since I see some speckles on your PPE...it looks different.

Here's what mine looks like.

Yeah, I'm having a hard time dialing my alk in my doser as well. My sps are sufferingright now due to the high demand of alk and ca.

yours are pretty sweet...

and i hear ya... i jus got some dosing pumps and i am gonna work on them this weekend (well, its my weekend right now)... so they will hold me over im hoping once i let the alk come down naturally... today it was at 9.3 after 4 days of not dosing when it was jus over 11 then... im gonna start slow, and actually let the alk get lower than higher if need be once i start the dosing pumps... get it stable at about 7, and jus make sure i test a little more often in case i need to add more doses of 1.1 mL per day...

i feeling better about things lately, the last week or two now that i have a good grip on what was the problem and got out of my lazy streak with my system, along with adjusting others things, like removing one of the tangs, and upgrading my carbon to rox 0.8 for examples...

Sorrow to hear about your woes! But your tank still looks awesome and thanks for sharing.
