pvc cement?

hey hows it goin

i just bought all the plumbing to plumb my overflow and return pump


well im using pvc(hard) not the flexible kind..


i was wondering what kinda of cement i could use on the pvc

i will be posting everything soon i keep on forgetting to load my pictures onto my computer

Just the regular stuff from HD/lowes. There will be a 2 pack of cans, one is primer, one is cement. That's what you want.

Just make sure you test fit everything before you start cementing, and remember to include some unuions so you can disassemble the plumbing (without a hacksaw) for cleaning or other maintence.

Measure twice, cement once. You only get one shot.

If you use some masking tape, you can get a cleaner looking final product, as the purple primer tends to drip. After you have the joint slip-fitted (dry, without any primer or cement), mask and then prime with the purple stuff. The primer can dry and wait for a while, but when once you have applied the clear PVC cement you only have half a minute or so to work. The stuff creates a tight bond. As you connect the pipes, give it a quarter-twist to spread the cement evenly. Don't worry if it oozes: you can razor off the excess when it dries later.

Even better... go with the clear primer... once you spill/drip some of the purple stuff and cannot clean it up... you will never use it again!

I second that. I used the purple stuff and didnt do the masking tape trick and it looks pretty crappy.

Just use the clear primer. Add unions and ball valves or true union ball valves wherever you can (within reason of course to make disassembling easy and spill free.

Use the clear primer the only reason for the purple primer is that the plumbing inspector can see that primer was used in the installation, it looks like hell and the clear is the same without the die.
