1st attempt DIY canopy HELP!

36" x 18" x 16"

back after the ice storm
i have a 175 ML light fixture that needs some covering up. i was willing to pay a little cash for someone who either has a canopy that could house my light, or someone who might build one to fit it., but it doesnt seem like i am going to find either sooooo im attempting to DIY.

the tank opening measures 36x18 and the light currently sits about 6 inches off the glass.

attached a few pictures to get a better idea of what im working with.

thanks in advance!

Make a wood skirt to go around the outside of the tank with cutouts in the rear for accessories.Little blocks on the inside corners will keep in from going down.Btw IMO covers are not the best way to go as they don't allow for gas exchange to well.

If people know where you are located, you may be able to see some DIY hoods that people have built to give you an idea. I built a frame out of 1x2's that sits on top of the aquarium frame. This is wrapped in 1/2" plywood and then I use baseboard molding from HD that extends down to cover the trim of the tank.
