looks really good!!This weeks tank adventure has been a green algae bloom, not gha, probably a bacterial bloom related to getting my DYI algae turf scrubber going. Its mostly over now, just another ride it out and don't overreact kind of thing.
The algae scrubber is broken in now and starting to get green hair algae growth. It took most of 2 weeks to get the screen broken in with a good slime. I wish i had roughed it up better but it works. I bought enough screens to last me 10 years lol so i can always break in another one.
All in all its starting to work great!
My nitrates stay between 0 and 5 max. The more i feed, the more the gha grows on the screen. Nitrates hardly move.
Phosphate 0 although i know i add them with food etc.
Im really pleased with it so far. Amazingly quiet!!!!
Thanks!!!looks really good!!
I seen some aiptasia on a frag plug the other day too...I cant tolerate seeing aiptasia in my tank. luckily it wasn't on a rock and easy to deal with.Yesterday i also finally cut out about 3/4" of the back overflow between chambers 1 and 2. My hope was to lower the display water column height without changing the return pump volume. It worked!
Now my display height is around 1-1/4" from the top instead of the 3/4" it was.
I also ramped up the rp-m powerhead to #6 which is 30% capacity so its at about 800 gph. Having it 1/3 of the way down on the back wall it aerates the surface really well. I don't mind some bubbles ar the top because i know its got great C02 exchange and the water it O2 rich!
I also noticed yesterday an aptasia growing out of the sand near a a zoo frag...UGGGG!
My GF then noticed a small one stuck on the back wall behind a base rock. Perfectly impossible to get at its mouth to treat..
!#%*@^^@&!*!*&&@^#!!! AIPTASIA!!!!
and so it begins....
Aiptasia just sucks! Not being able to mess with it because it will spew out hundred of "babies" makes it a total PITA!I seen some aiptasia on a frag plug the other day too...I cant tolerate seeing aiptasia in my tank. luckily it wasn't on a rock and easy to deal with.
I never had luck with p.shrimps...I had aiptasia in my former 93g threw some shrimp in and they were just hanging out next to the the aiptasia all day while the aiptasia grew bigger and bigger lolIdk about everyone else, but I’ve always had great luck with peppermint shrimp, they’ll eat all the aptasia within a week but they always seem to disappear after about a week whenever I’ve added one. I suspect that the six line is taking them out is all.
A few crappy phone pics of my zoos. They're growing alot. Its not the optimal time on my lighting schedule for colors to pop but hey, who doesn't like pics of zoos.
7 frags, I'm still deciding where to place them.
I have absolutely no idea of the names of any of these. Haven't gone to the zoa id page..
Feel free to offer your opinions on the type!!
Thanks! You have a watermelon zoa and some rasta zoas, didnt look closely at the others.
I had that same issue on my 47 column seahorse tank 12 years ago. Glad you brought it up, they're definitely hit or miss.I never had luck with p.shrimps...I had aiptasia in my former 93g threw some shrimp in and they were just hanging out next to the the aiptasia all day while the aiptasia grew bigger and bigger lol
Seriously the most positive, playful, personality I've seen with a fish! The neon gobies are fantastic little dudes. Mine have all sat on my fingers while I fed too. Great personalities.
