Hanna Checker Reading 0.00

Hello, I just received my new Hanna Phosphate checker tonight. I did two tests of my water and got 0.00 both times. I don't have an algae problem, but I definitely have a small amount of algae in the tank, meaning there has to be some phosphate. I know that you can have low readings when the algae is using the nutrients, but 0.00 in the water column?

Has anyone else had this issue? Am I doing something incorrectly?

maybe the algea is consuming the excess nutrients in the water column and then giving the 0 reading.

Hanna now has 2 types of P04 meters. There is now an ultra low PO4 checker

Which one did you buy

the ultra low reads PPB

I bought the PPM version because I didn't want to bother with the 3.066 conversion factor and then dividing by 1000 to get the accurate ppm of phosphate. One tests phosphorous (PPB one) and one test phosphate (PPM one).

If you are using the PPB without using the conversion factor, your phosphate is actually a little over 3x higher.
