What will happen to the bacteria in my FOWLR if I hyposalinity(lower salinity to 1.009) treat the tank? Do I need to remove the rock? Right now it is bare bottom with some LR and a hang on filter w/ a couple of powerheads and a heater. Do I need to remove the rock??

This doesn't help too much, but I accidentally lowered the salinity in my reef to 1.009 for about a day, and I didn't notice any harm to the biological filter. The LR seemed to keep up very well even while shrimp and snails died producing more waste.

Thanks Nate...I know the inverts will die but don't know the long term effects on the rock. Won't do hypo unless I have to...just dropped in a cleaner wrasse yesterday into the quarantine....no ick ...just overly cautious with this one.
