i bought a red tree sponge that is a taadd tooo big. in a tank that is only 24 inches a 19inch sponge sticks out a little.

can i cut this sponge to the size i want it. will that kill it? and how would i go about cutting it?

as far as i know you can just use a clean razor to shape it down to size. it should be fine as long as you do not take it out of the water at all. if air gets trapped inside it will starve to and die. i would cut off the pieces sticking out of the water before the spreads

In general these are very difficult to get to survive long term in a tank environment.

i didnt mean sticks out of the water. it is completely submerged. when i said sticks out i meant, it takes up alot of room. sorry for confusion.... but as long as i can cut it that pleases me...

now im going to make it smaller and cut it into two.. thanks
