I’m sure you all have seen the upcoming weather, rain/ice/snow, heavy at times with some pretty significant wind. Great time to run through the backup protocol to make sure you’re ready to go.
I don’t have a generator although I plan to buy one this year. Fingers crossed we don’t get any power outages. I did get an outage for about 30 minutes last night though.. not too sure why..
I had my panel switched out on Friday so I stretched the generators legs a little and ran the essentials…the fish tanks lol. I’ve got the biggest harbor freight predator inverter generator, it’s awesome push button start sips gas easy to use and fair price compared to others I highly recommend them! And you can’t beat their zero interest payments for that great peace of mind. I’ve only been up and running for 5-6 months and I’m well over a couple grand into my setups and would be devastated if I lost power and couldn’t do anything. I think backup power (even battery backups work great if you can’t run or afford a generator) is essential in planning out your build otherwise you’re potentially flushing it all down the toilet.
I have a propane stand-by for the house but I use the same inverter Duds mentioned for the camper/race trailer at the track. Super quiet, reliable and an awesome deal for the money. If any members get jammed up with power outages I can lend it out to get you through
I pulled mine out of the shed and placed it in my garage where my transfer panel is. I'm also supposed to fly out of Manchester NH to Florida tomorrow 6pm. praying for Rain!
