Does it seem like it would be enough by itself and an aquaclear 50? Do you personally like your vortech? Is it only noisy durring short/long pulse? Are there other alternatives?

The MP10 does 200-1,575gph. When we had our 20 high setup we had 3 power heads plus the return pump with a combined flow of 1,200-1,400gph. I'd say a MP10 would work great in a 20 high. If we had not upgrade to the 93 gallon I was going to buy one for my 20 high.

As for alternatives you could go with Tunze products. A Nanostream 6055 puts out 264 to 1,453gph. You would have to buy the Tunze controller.

MP10 would be cheaper then a 6055 with a controller
MP10 would take up less space then the 6055

GO VORTECH! I have an mp10 on my 24g and love it (I replaced a tunze nano and koralia with the mp10). The vortech moves the entire water column in a broader stream. As stated before, it is a cheaper option than a tunze wavemaker system w/nanostream and you get other benefits like decreased temp (fewer powerheads and motor on outside) and more flow options.
