40 gallon breeder tank

I was measuring a 40 gallon breeder tank today and found out that it actually hold 45 gallon of water (36x18x16.5 In.) As most tanks hold less water than they were claimed, this is Interesting.

I imagine the inside dimensions are 35x17x16 = 41 gallons?

You got a point. A 55 gallon actually only hold about 52 gallon of water. And some petshops sell 45 gallon tank as 50.

Inside dimensions are 35 3/8L x 17 3/8W x 15 3/4"H (to the lip) = 41.9 Gallons Almost 2!
