Now did you have to attach it to the tank so it doesnt slide off when you open it all the way? If so, how did you attach it.

Since the pic I've added 2 x 48" T5's run on a 660 ballast.

It's not yet attached to the tank; I just never get around to it, and since I never open the top (except to take the picture) it's not really that big of a deal at the moment. I still plan to do it though, I'll probably use nylon hardware to secure it.
