Controller question

A buddy of mine and I were discussion controllers yesterday and realized that we have no idea how to implement a controller into a system. I tried to find some threads here and on RC that would diagram it out but couldn't find anything. Does anyone know where I could find out how to set up a controller. I am looking to include a controller for a modest setup where I could monitor SG, PH, and temp. I also am looking for timer with a wave maker. Does anyone have any recommendations?

sounds like the reefkeeper elite will do everything you need. my reefkeeper lite is coming in tomorrow, it does everything you listed except for monitor SG.
