dripping kalk?

so i have been reading about kalk and all the different ways to dose it
one i found i liked and think i may try on a bigger scale
i want to put a 5g bucket in the closet behind my tank and gravity drip the rodi mixed with kalk into the sump either with just a line and open the line as needed or maybe put a float valve on in the sump.
also how dependable are the electronic dosers? some i see are pretty cheap and others for the obvious extras built in are big$$
i like to think simple is better thats why i want to gravity drip on a float
anyone have issues with this method or something i am overlooking??
thanks

i was under the impression that after the stuff is mixed and settled for 24hrs or so
most of the stuff will have settled at the bottom and i can use the water thats on the top

Never had a problem with the air line clogging, but you do have to keep up with pump maintance as kalk is a little rough on them.

gravity method works but it can stop working out of nowhere. it usaully means your drip line is clogged. I never used a float because your going at such a slow rate that it would be unneccessary. You can really jack up the ph if you go too fast.

I think a float in your sump might dump kalkwasser a little too quickly. As long as you can get your container higher then your sump I'd just use the drip method.
I stopped using kalk after I got my reactor set-up. It does make some pretty heavy deposits on your pumps and heaters. I have 2- 5 gal buckets from group buys if need any.

thanks graftons a bit out of the way for me tho
i thought i could dial in a float switch so it would add water at a small enough level so it wont screw up the ph
however if that def wont work i can just use a air line for now

Thought this was funny, my wife was reading, "over my shoulder" and saw the heading "dripping kalk" she was then very interested in what i was reading... You guys are getting me in trouble! LOL

When I had my 75 running i just used a cheep plastic air line needle valve, never had any problems.
