Overkill Possible?

I was just wondering if it is possible to have too much light.
Like if I had a GSP or a low light needing zoo or something and blasted it under 250 watts metal halide in a 10 inch deep tank. Would it just grow REALLY FAST or something else. After acclimating it of course:D

If you are talking about your 10 gallon, a 250 is crazy imo. So for a 10 gallon, yes way overkill IMO.

Even a 150 may be to much for heat and also overkill.

If you want MH, a 70w MH will probably allow you to keep anything you want in a 10 gallon tank. T5's also another option.

Too much light depends on what type of corals you're tring to keep and where they come from. GSP and Zoa would be too much light. Watch for temp.

Yes, but there is no need for 250 or 175. You can get the same results with less wattage.

It is not an over kill, it is a kill. A 250w will boil the 6 to 8 gallon of actual volumn of water in the tank.

My 10g has a 150mh and I honestly think it isn't enough, mainly because of the really low par on the bluer bulbs. I wouldn't upgrade due to heat problems, but once I get a larger tank I will have a 250mh.
