Does salt creep affect the longevity of a light bulb?

I'm getting alot of salt on my MH bulb. Wondering if I should clean it or not. If I do clean it, what should I use. Or should I find a way to prevent it. My fixture is pretty close to the waters. thoughts?

I don't think it will hurt the bulb, but it will block the output.

I'd clean it with water, just make sure it's dry before reinstalling it.

*This is a SE bulb right? If it's DE it needs a UV sheild so the bulb wouldn't be getting salt on it anyway, just the sheild, which would need to be cleaned just the same*

As long as it's clean, no. Salt chunks can however irritate or even kill coral tissue if the salt lands on the coral before dissolving. Depends on the coral, some are much more sensitive than others to this.
