uh oh, whats going on? tank went cloudy in a matter of min

reefing again!
my tank was crystal clear, then I wend to watch tv and later walked back to see my tank was cloudy and a close up inspection shows smokey white stuff coming out of a snail. am I nuts? what should I do?

They are spawning. Thats sperm and ovum. You could leave it as food for the tank or do a water change. Running carbon would help clear it up too if the tank stays cloudy.

Yup, spawning. No big deal, you could add carbon as mentioned, but a long as you have some decent live rock and critters living in it they should clear the spawn in a few hours. Depending upon the species spawning Sometimes babies will appear and grow. I've found that the Astreas are the most likely to spawn, but IME the babies of Astreas never survive, they probably have a plancktonic stage that gets skimmed out.
